Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ayahuasca is a traditional Amazonian plant medicine used for spiritual healing and personal growth. It is a combination of two plants, Banisteriopsis caapi (the vine) and Psychotria viridis (the leaf), which when brewed together create a tea that induces visionary experiences. Ayahuasca has been used for centuries by indigenous cultures for healing, guidance, and spiritual awakening.

  • A Seraphaya ceremony is a sacred, intentional space created for communion with the Divine through the sacrament of ayahuasca. Held in reverence and guided by trained facilitators, each ceremony is a ritual of remembrance—an opportunity to reconnect with the deepest parts of your soul and the wisdom of the Earth. We keep our gatherings intimate, with no more than six participants, to ensure each person receives attentive care, energetic support, and a deeply personalized experience.

You may encounter visions, emotional release, physical purging, or moments of profound stillness—each journey is unique, and Spirit meets you exactly where you are. Ceremonies are held in energetically protected spaces, often accompanied by prayer, music, and the collective presence of a like-hearted community. Participants are invited to arrive with humility, openness, and clear intention. Preparation before and integration after are essential parts of the ceremonial arc—allowing you to safely ground the healing, insights, and transformation that may arise.

Above all, you can expect to be held in a container of love, integrity, and sacred reciprocity.

  • Preparation is key for a transformative experience. We recommend following a specific diet, known as the 'dieta,' for at least two weeks prior to the retreat. This diet includes avoiding pork, alcohol, and processed foods while minimizing salt, sugar, spicy foods, and caffeine. Meditation and self-reflection are also encouraged as part of the preparation process. You will receive more detailed guidance upon registration.

  • The safety and well-being of our participants is our top priority. Individuals with certain medical conditions, including heart issues, severe mental health conditions, or those taking specific medications (like SSRIs), may not be eligible for participation. We conduct a thorough intake process, including an interview and medical review, to ensure each participant’s readiness for the experience. You can read more about common medication interactions here.

  • Our church practices the sacramental use of Ayahuasca as part of our sincerely held religious beliefs. We are exercising our rights under the First Amendment, which protects the free exercise of religion in the United States.

The Supreme Court has recognized that the use of Ayahuasca in a religious setting can be protected under U.S. law. While these protections are considered on a case-by-case basis, several churches have been affirmed in their right to use Ayahuasca as a sacrament.

We are committed to honoring the sacred nature of this medicine with great care and respect. Our focus is on creating a safe, intentional, and spiritually grounded space for those called to this path.

  • Integration is a crucial part of the ayahuasca experience. After the ceremony, we provide one-on-one and group integration sessions to help participants process their experiences and apply the insights gained. Our trained facilitators and integration coaches are available to support you through this journey, ensuring a smooth transition back to everyday life.
